Tiny Tunas

Carter and Dreyton have just completed their first week of swim lessons! Let me share with you the progression from Monday to Friday:

Monday: Dreyton yelling that he didn't want to leave the house, get in the car, drive there, nor get out of the car and me having to pick him up and tuck him under my arm against his will and carry him to the pool. Following 10 minutes of high pitched yelling and crying (by both of us) he settled down enough to engage in conversation with the swim coach, Garrett. I brought his trunks just in case he changed his mind but he stayed in his jammies the entire time and didn't fuss when I told him he couldn't eat the gummy bear treat he brought. With the other little girl sobbing the entire time, Carter was the only willing participant in the bunch and when Garrett asked her, "Do you want to do a bob?" she of course replied, "Yea!" Not knowing what a bob even was she came up crying because she had water in her nose. Three crying three year olds, class over!

Tuesday: They both jumped right in the pool, no problems or complaints and gave him all 20 minutes of their attention. They were sweetly rewarded with gummy bears and lots of praises!

Jump to Friday: Justin was off so it was "family day" at swim lessons and Carter finally got brave enough to put her whole head under the water. Garrett the swim teacher was trying to have them reach under the water for colored rings to trick them into getting their faces and heads wet but they both would reach and strain their arms out of socket before they would submerge their faces. In the end Carter jumped off the side twice and quickly dunked her head below the surface. They showed off for daddy by listening well and swimming back and forth with Garrett to rescue the duck floaties in the middle of the pool. And their end of the week reward, a trip to Target! We are not opposed to bribing:)

Gotta love that sunscreen stick!

Gummy bear reward. Another little girl told them, "That's not a very healthy snack to be eating everyday!" Thank you 5 year old Richard Simmons!

Yay for the little swimmers. That is a lot of progress. I feel for you on day #1 sister - way to stick it out. I also love the '5 yr old Richard Simmons' - you're too funny!
